Description:
Due to Kimberly's severe and possibly life-threatening health issues recently, Rattie Love Rescue will be going on a hiatus until further notice. We do have many rats that need homes ASAP. We will be listing each on Petfinder over the next few days. Please consider adopting. We are operating as 'normal' until all rats are gone, but please be patient, as Kimberly must still do a lot of the work during this time, as her health allows. We thank everyone for the support. We will put up an announcement when all rats are gone and the rescue is considered on a hiatus. Any rats that are elderly, ill or aggressive will be staying here permanently. If you've contacted us recently and never heard back, please contact us again. Things are insane around here. Thanks. Zed has changed over the last month or so... He is now quite aggressive, though he has NOT bitten RLR staff (but we are slightly weary!). He's not extremely social anymore, for unknown reasons. He is no longer getting along well with his cage mate and father, Zorro. Zed needs a home with an understanding person who has experience with rats. Zed is a black hooded boy. He's around 4 months old, or so. He's a bit squishy boy already, like his daddy. Zed bunks with his daddy, Zorro, who's also available. They were VERY bonded, but that is no longer the case and they do not need to be adopted out together at this point. ...................................................... Not all rats are always on Petfinder, so please inquire if you are looking for specifics! NOTICE: You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt from RLR. Parents wishing to adopt rats as family pets must go through the process themselves. We do want parents to remember that children do loose interest in pets, and parents need to be willing to step up and take over care when this happens. We get in rats from situations where the parents assumed the children were caring for the rats, and they were not. The parents wanted nothing to do with them! Please don't let this happen to the rats we save. Thank you! All rats must be adopted in pairs OR there must be other rats already at home. We prefer that you adopt in pairs or more, regardless, so the rats are not alone at any point and time - during quarantine or introductions. It's always nice to have a friend you know! Some rats will be listed together and in those circumstances (unless noted), those rats must stay together. THE PROCESS: The process is simple! You'll fill out an adoption application and send it back. We will check the references (vet, landlord when needed) and get back to you with our decision. Any problems we have, or questions we need to ask, we converse with you before deciding. Once approved, plans to pick up your new friends will be made! A contract will be signed at the time the rats are turned over to their new parents. We also provide a packet for you, filled with information all about rats. ADOPTION FEES: Please note - We are 'test driving' a new concept for a few months... Instead of having a set fee for rats being adopted, we now require for a donation to support us and offset costs. We will remind all adopters that we need these donations to run! Your adopted rat(s) were in our care, and during that time, we housed and fed them and in many cases, provided vet care. Please keep that in mind! SPAYING/NEUTERING: We encourage adopters to consider having our vet sputer any rat (age/size restrictions apply) you adopt for our reduced rates before the ratties go home. Prices slightly lowered! $42 for neuters, $67 for spays.
