Description:
Zoey was transferred here from the MSPCA, the below information is directly from her petfinder description via MSPCA:'Zoey is a very sweet 16 year old Standardbred mare that has fell on hard times. This poor mare was neglected for months and was standing in two feet of her own manure. When she came to us, she was very tender footed. We took a look at her feet and realized she has severe thrush and canker. Canker is a severe infection in the hoof that generally destroys the frog and can be extremely painful. It is caused when hooves are not taken care of properly or picked regularly. Our vet has looked at her and said that her case is curable! She is on an oral anti-biotic and her feet need to be wrapped everyday with special medicine. She has been very patient and well mannered with us through her abrasive and meticulous treatments. Zoey is now fully recovered and is able to begin her evaluation under saddle! She has been very sweet and easy to work around and is a quick learner. We have ridden her walk-trot in english tack. She has a strong tendency to pace but can be easily brought back to her wonderful trot. She has not been spooky at all and seems to be a very safe mount. We would like thank everyone who donated to Ashton''s Hope Fund of the MSPCA. Because of you, Zoey has recovered and can now continue her life and get the love that she deserves! Ashton''s Hope Fund is a special fund that goes directly to animals needing medical care here at Nevins. Please go to the following website and make sure you specify Ashton''s Hope Fund. Zoey and all of us at Nevins will be very thankful of your generous donation!
