Description:
Please contact Debbie Saunders (director@biglickferretshelter.com) for more information about this pet. The Big Lick Ferret Shelter and Hospice is located in Roanoke, Virginia. We do not ship our ferrets so please DO NOT ASK.We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to helping local ferrets by providing respite to them while they wait for their forever homes. We care for the ferrets in our guardianship by keeping them in private foster homes and do not have a central public shelter so appointments are necessary to see the ferrets. Special needs, elder ferret Gizmo is our most recent surrender. Her skin Mom tearfully turned her over to us in late October after trying for several months to make things work with juggling caring for her & the new skin baby. Gizmo is an older, dark Sable sprite at 5 1/2 yrs old. Her diet was a single kibble (8in1 Ultimate Advance Crunchy) upon intake but we've been adding our mix to her bowl. She is a sweet little ferret but does not seem to enjoy the company of other ferrets. Given her age she will most likely be a permanent shelter resident. We are looking for sponsors for Gizmo's care as she enters her 'Golden Years'. Donations toward her continuing medical care can be made directly to her Veterinarian (Dr. Mark Finkler) at the Roanoke Animal Hospital, 2814 Franklin Rd., Roanoke, VA 24014 (please note who the gift is for & from). All ferrets under the care of the Big Lick Ferret Shelter and Hospice are ADV screened upon intake & brought current on rabies and distemper if medical records are not available. We require a home visit of all adoption candidates before an adoption will be granted so you must live within a 30 mile radius of the Roanoke Valley.
