Baker is a 3yo male lab mix who was picked up by animal control in rural Arkansas with a horrific injury to his R front leg. Ordinarily, he would have been euthanized right away, but the shelter employees recognized what an outstanding dog Baker was and decided to save him. His damaged leg was amputated right away, but Baker doesn't seem to notice for he gets around just fine thank you! Baker is friendly and well-socialized with a medium activity level. Loves to run and play outside, but then settles down quickly in the house. Likes to go for walks, loves to be with people, enjoys being petted and brushed. Great with kids, cats and other dogs. Recommended for children 6 years and older. Good on a leash, rides great in the car. Knows basic commands. Housebroken and crate-trained. No issues such as separation anxiety, counter surfing or barking. When we got Baker he had heartworms, but he was treated and cured without complications. Weighs about 55#, healthy, altered and utd on shots.
Here's a note from his foster mom: 'Baker loves everyone, he has never met a stranger. He likes to show off his come and sit skills, doing 180 degree turns in the air, having his head scratched, big hugs, being brushed, riding in the car, sharing his dog bed with his doggie sisters. He is very smart and you really can see him grinning when he is being told what a good boy he is. Baker does not want his time for getting attention to stop so he will use his mouth to nudge you for more petting. His R front leg was amputated, but Baker doesn't seem to miss it much because he gets around fine without it. With the typical friendly lab temperament, he's fun and easy to have around. Baker will make a wonderful companion for a family who loves this breed.'.
