Description:
Smokey is a super fabulous Golden Oldie! Her owner fell on hard times and could not afford to feed her much less take her to the vet for annual visits. She has lived with her owner since she was a spry pup and he was totally heartbroken to have to find a new home for her. She is house-trained, good with kids has been around newborns and up - does just fine with kids of all ages. Good with other dogs. With cats, it depends. She can be good and she can chase if they run. She is house-trained and typically hangs out during the day but is used to people being around. She would make a great addition if you are looking for a companion animal. Smokey is not 100% perfect, she has not had any leash training and she does have a fatty tumor that does not seem to bother her. She is very mellow, not destructive and you can bet she will be very appreciative to her new family when she is adopted. Ask to meet Smokey and you will see that 'Golden Oldies' don't take anything for granted...and they are always very thankful! Update from foster mom 8/31: Knows sit, lay down and come and her name. She does walk very nice on a leash and likes to go for a walk but she tires easily due to her lack of general fitness. I have been taking her for 2 short walks a day and slowly I will take her for longer ones as she gets healthier. I think she is used to having human food in her dog food but she is learning that it doesn't quite work that way at my house.. Smokey is fantastic around children and just adores my 5 year old. She will whine for attention but I have yet to hear her bark. She really is a sweet dog! Smokey and Jesse James are 'roommates' living together in the same foster home. Note from their foster mom: This is so funny... I wish I had video of it. Jesse takes the rawhide bone and hides it somewhere inside the house. A few minutes later Smokey goes and finds the bone and gently places it back in front of Jesse. This cycle has repeated 5 times in 30 min. I think they are playing a fun doggie game of hide-and-seek. Pretty darn cute! Smokey is shown below bird watching through her doggie door window. *When sponsoring a weim- please be sure to notate which weim you are sponsoring in the 'Add special instructions to the seller' box within the paypal form.
