Hi, I''m Tally. I''m a big, handsome hound who came up to the Cape all the way from Tennessee. Like most hounds, I''m talkative and have lots of energy - not the best choice for apartments. I''m strong on a leash, but more because I just haven''t had any training. You see, I was kept at a foster home in the south where I was an outdoor dog, so I haven''t really been on a leash before. I''m only 2 years old, and because I was never really in a house I haven''t been exposed to house training yet - a crate and a good schedule would be good training tools with me. I''m a super happy hound, but I can be a little jumpy because no one has ever taught me anything - manners included! This would probably not be the best match with young kids, as my exuberance would end up in them being knocked down. I get along with other dogs. I am very, very focused on little critters including cats, bunnies, ferrets, birds, squirrels, and any other little furry, and can''t live with any of them. That also means that I am not an off leash type dog, since if I see anything fun I like to chase instead of listening to my owner. Since Tally has been here, we''ve been working to teach him some manners, including 'sit,' quiet, and to be calm and quiet for his food or attention. He is a sweet guy with no mean bone in his body (unless you are small and furry!), and is looking for a home familiar with hound tendencies. Tally is also very food motivated and we have been feeding him with a busy toy (he is really good with them) to keep him occupied. He has also been in some play groups with other dogs - he does like to growl when he wrestles with them. He seems to have very good canine communication skills and gets along with everyone, though he prefers the dogs that are playful with him. He likes to play chase with them.
