Meet Scamp, one of our very special needs dogs. He is a small Yorkie/Chihuahua mix with a seizure disorder. He was released for euthanasia to our local vet by his owners because they had allowed him to get heartworms. Our vet has generously updated his vaccinations and will be treating his heartworms free of charge (thank you Dr. Dobbs at Cedar Bayou Animal Clinic in Baytown!). His seizures are under control with medication (thankfully inexpensive!) he must take for the rest of his life. He starts his heartworm treatment shortly and will have to be kept quiet for 6 weeks or so, and then he will have a much brighter future. He is already neutered, and such a charming little fellow. He is very calm for a terrier, and loves nothing better than to be held. He is working on housebreaking and gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home. He is wonderful with children, but we think he probably would be best with children a little older. He isn't much of a barker, although we have heard him bark when there is something to bark at. He has the most soulful brown eyes and a very soft coat. We are willing to adopt him a this point if the adopter follows through on his heartworm treatment. If you think you can give Scamp the future he deserves, please ask for an adoption application by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
