Nakimushi (nah-kee-moo-shee) is a 4 year old pure bred Red male Shiba Inu. Naki came to us all the way from Minnesotta. Naki has a history of food aggression which caused his owners to look for a better home for him. We have been working on this issue with Naki and feel that he is ready for his new forever home. Naki is a very affectionate boy once he warms up to you. He can be a little shy with new people and it takes about a week or two for him to get settled into a new environment. During that time it is normal for him to pace and whine, but if he is ignored or told 'uh uh' he quiets down and begins to adjust. He is good with men and women but we do not recommend he go to a home with children. Naki is good with cats but is sometimes afraid of them. Naki is not good with other dogs at all and must be the only dog in the household.Naki is potty trained and working on crate training. He does best if a treat is tossed into his crate when he is put away and if the crate is in the bedroom with his people. Naki really enjoys being outside but can get a bit anxious and worked up over too many sights and sounds so we recommend he go to a home with a 6 foot privacy fence. He also has access to a window that he can look out of in his foster home by laying on the guest bed which he really loves to do. Naki enjoys a good game of tug with a flat squeaky toy or rope. He likes to chew on rawhide or cattle hooves, but because of his history of food aggression, caution should be taken when he has such a high value item. Either leave him alone with the chew stick or if you must get the item it is best to offer him a very special treat, like chicken or cheese to trade him for the item. This way Naki continues to learn that by giving something up, he actually will get something better. Naki's adoption fee of $300.00 includes his neuter, deworming, heart worm test (negative), distemper and rabies vaccines, microchip and 8 week Beginner Training Course.
