Brody is a beautiful mahogany male sheltie. He has been neutered, is current on all his vaccinations and has tested negative for heartworm. It would appear he is in the range of 5 years old. He is full of energy and would do well with an active family. Brody has a very sweet, sensitive nature and is very attentive to his person. Brody was picked up as a stray and taken to the Kearney Area Humane Society. In getting him all cleaned up it was discovered that he is not comfortable with the grooming process, and will nip. He was taken into rescue to help desensitize his issues. With that in mind we are looking for a sheltie savvy home - someone who knows the importance of regular, timely grooming for this breed. That it should be a love fest and not done with a heavy hand. UPDATE: Brody is doing very well with the grooming process. This is a wonderful dog. very attentive and gentle. He has learned 'Give me a kiss' and only does that when asked. What a sweetheart. Brody is housetrained, loves to ride in the car, walks like a dream on leash and knows kennel up. While we practice this at feeding time he does not spend much time in one beyond the first few days in rescue. He has wonderful dog communication skills with all the elderly dogs in rescue that are a variety of gender and sizes. He is great with the cats. He seems to like all humans just fine. On occasion he will now sleep with his human. K9HAVEN Rescue requires an adoption application, referenes, vet reference, fenced yard (underground fencing is not acceptable), and a home visit prior to adoption. There will be an adoption contract and an adoption fee. Due to his sensitive nature regarding grooming he will not be adopted into a home with children under 10.
