Here's what Paco's rescuer has to say about him:
We found him as a little starving puppy on the side of the road. We have had him 5 weeks. He has been wormed, had his shots of DHLP-Parvo and Rabies. He will need to be neutered when ready. He is shy and barky at first until he knows he can trust you. Go slow with him, let him sense you first before touching. Use a toy, sit on the ground with a towel on your lap (he associates towels with safety). We have one in his dog box. And Feed Him something yummy and he will get warmer with you, playful and sweet. He is very affectionate, but has some stress of new people at first because of his past history with others. When we found him he had little hair and his skin was peeling from being in the sun. I have used many things on his skin to have it recover and to grow hair. Aloe has been the most helpful, with natural lotions and oil. He has almost recovered from this. However, some days when his scratching was bad – we gave him Benadryl – an antihistamine. He knows the words, “no”, “come”, and is beginning to understand “good outside”-when he pees or poops outside and “leave it”. He pees inside the shower stall on newspaper, but does not poop there where his bed is nearby. He tries to wait until we take him outside. He is not house-trained yet, but it should take little time with gentleness. Gentleness is important for him and he understands better with gentle reprimands. He is a quick learner then. He likes to play and chew, so I have some squeaky toys and a dog bone.
