Joseph is approx. 3 1/2 years old in these pictures taken January 5, 2008. He and his sister, Rachel, first came into the shelter last year when their owners were displaced by a hurricane in Florida. A church group asked us to help the family and take the two dogs until the family got back on their feet. The family did come to get them after a few months. The family fall again on hard times and they turned Rachel and Joseph over to us permanently to find them a home. Rachel and Joseph together need to be placed together.
Joseph is shy but loving guy. He seems to get along with the other dogs. Neither Rachel nor Joseph have been exposed to children or cats. Both can be a little shy at first. Rachel warms up to people before Joseph will.
Joseph did very well with the volunteers who groomed him and cut some of the mats out of his hair. He is also doing better on a leash and being with new people.
Joseph would GREATLY benefit from having a volunteer work with him 1 - 2 hours a week. He needs someone to help him to learn to trust people and to walk on a leash. Joseph is a great dog though.
