UPDATE: I am home!I am a 'sanctuary sweetheart' Dottie is 10 months old now and has made remarkable progress. She used to crawl instead of walk, and now she litterally 'runs' across the yard. She is a sweet and loving little thing with an angelic face. Dottie can get anywhere she wants to go, it just takes her a little longer to get there. And while she does fall down sometimes, she picks herself right back up and keeps on going. Dotties favorite playmate is Kioko ( a 65+ lb Akita puppy with Elbow Displesia) These two spend hours playing together. Their playtime helps Dottie strengthen her muscles and improve her coordination. Dottie has a lot of spunk, she does not think she is different and neither do we. Dottie's family needs to understand that she can not go for walks and she needs to wear a diaper in the house (she is learning though). She can not walk on linolium or hard wood floors and needs to be in her little wire crate with a padded bumper around the sides when no one is home to watch her.A special Thank you goes out to Bill who designed and built a little cruiser for Dottie. Dottie no longer uses it but it had helped her tremendosly in keeping her balance. *******************************************************Hi, I am Dottie.........I came here when I was 12 weeks old. The lady who bred me could not find me a home because I was 'different' ( my foster mommy does not like that word). My foster mommy took me to a couple of vets, originally they thought I had an ear infection but that was not it. I have what they call 'Cerebellar Hypoplasia', which affects my brain's ability to control balance and fine motor skills. I am in no pain and I truely enjoy life.Feb 1st; Vet Dr. Klentz has seen Dottie and it appears she had an ear infection when she was only a few weeks old.We are treating Dottie with antibiotics.UPDATE: Feb 14thDr. Calson took x-rays,Dottie has a Middle Ear infection as well as a sinus infection. We switched her to a stronger antibiotic and are hopeful that Dotties condition will improve. UPDATE: Feb 28thDotties condition is diagnosed as Cerebellar Hypoplasia MayHi there, Dottie here.Mom is so proud of me, she says I made great improvements ..............I love to play with Kioko ( the BIG Akita puppy that is staying here as well). He weighs 60+ lbs and I weigh less then 10 lbs but we are quite the pair lol.I am getting a lot better and this 'walking' thing but I am all puppy and it's hard to slow down and concentrade.I am a playful, happy and comical little girl, I don't ask for much and I have so much love to give. June 1stHey it's me again and I can't wait to tell you about this nice man from CO ( not sure if I can mention his name or not so I better not until he says it's ok lol) is going to make me a 4 wheeler.......YES a 4 wheeler so I can take off and run and play all by my own. I can't wait to see what he comes up with, oh I am so excited. July My walker is here...........Bill build it just for ME. Let me tell you this man is GREAT!!! He only had to make some little adjustments and it fit just perfect. He actually build me 2 walkers, one for inside and one for outside. Mom will get some newer pictures so don't forget to check back. Watch out world here I come UPDATE: August Mom says it's hard to believe I am the same little pup ( 8 months old now)....lolI have made soooooooo much progress in the last month that mom has trouble keeping up with me lol.I can get around pretty good on my own, the older I get the better my coordination gets. I want to go outside in the yard and run and play for all I'm worth. You should hear me when mom takes out the other kids and doesn't bring me along................oh yes you bet ya I'll let her know she forgot ME lol.I still get excited and loose my balance BUT I can stand on my own for quite a while now and I can run!!! Yes, I can run and it's so much fun. One of my favorite things to do is cuddle on the couch with mom or bounce on Kioko ( the poor guy, I can't believe big 60+ lb Kioko puts up with little 5 lb me). Ahhhhhhhhh, live is good, mom says she believes in miracles and calls me one of them??? AUGUST 24thMy FIRST hair cut..............ahhhhhhhhh..........I feel great! Look, I am standing all by my self............see, mom told you I made great improvements. UPDATE: December Well here it is Christmas already, wow can you believe how time flies?Mom took this picture of me, my favorite spot under the tree lol. I weigh a whopping 8 lbs and mom says that's as big as I will get. I'm doing great, I run and play and I'm happy.....happy.........HAPPY. My buddy Kioko and I have so much fun, mom says we are more fun to watch then the boring old TV lol.*******************************************************Our main concern is finding Dottie a home that will love her for who she is. She needs to be on carpet as she can not walk on wood floor or tiles..........She also will need a wire crate padded with a crib pad around the sides so she does not hurt her self if she falls over. She is a happy little girl despite her disability and she has quality of live. She is not house trained since she was not able to get up on her own and she will not be able to go for walks. If you would like to make a small donation to her care and be her 'Guardian Angel' while she is waiting for her 4 ever home we would graciously accept your kind offer.
