Pearl girl is a work in progress since all she has ever known is a puppy mill and having babies. She is being introduced to living in a real house and is improving daily. When she came in she was in very bad shape with an infected uterus, bad teeth and ear mites so bad that she was essentially deaf. We have cleared up all her medical issues, now we are concentrating on showing Pearl that it is okay to live in a house and to let humans pet her. She wants to come to you but is still afraid so we are going very slowly with her.
She will come up to the foster mom, but is a bit leary of new people until she gets used to them. She did not eat for the first two days until her food bowl accidently got knocked over. Then she scarfed up every single morsel. So, she was afraid of the bowl. She now eats without any problem from a metal bowl. So far the vet bills for all five dogs have exceeded $1500. Any donations to help would be greatly appreciated. Checks can be made out to Midwest Schipperke Rescue and mailed to Sandy King, Treasurer, 6708 92nd. Ave W., Taylor Ridge, IL 61284.
Pearl will need a home who understands what it's like to be afraid of new things and will go slowly with her. She craves affection but does not yet know how to ask for it or accept it when it is given. She shows improvement every day but it will take her a longer time than some because she spent so many years as a breeder dog at the puppy mill.
I hope someone will want to show her how good life can be as a loved companion.
Pearl is in foster care in Southern Michigan.
