Phoebe is a very petite 12 pounds. Phoebe was born November 27th, 1998. After her dental she only has 5 teeth remaining. She has been spayed, had all her vaccinations, and has tested negative for heart =worm. She is on preventative now. In the fall of 2008 Phoebe had her right eye surgically removed due to glaucoma. Since she had very limited or no sight in that eye there was no reason to try to save it. She gets drops in her left eye to help prevent the development of glaucoma in her one remaining eye. They are very inexpensive, but she will need routine monitoring of eye pressure for the rest of her life.
Phoebe is great around the other dogs and the cats. She is very cautious initially - trying to sort out who's naughty and who's nice. I don't think all the dogs were nice to her in her previous home. She is learning to be in the house - she has been outdoors all her life. She is very faithful to use her potty pad when not taken outdoors. She will happily go outdoors WITH you, though. She does very well when her person is consistant about taking her outdoors - even though she HAS mastered the doggie door. She has learned to eat food out of a dish and not off the ground. AND - she is learning to sleep in bed with her person. Something that makes her feel so special. We don't do that much anymore because the loss of her eye has effected her depth perception.
She greets any attention from her person with unbridled joy. She likes dogs and cats just fine. There is not an ornery bone in her little body. She has just discovered toys - and she is a hoot to watch. She would do very well as an only pet - it would be wonderful for her to find a home where she is loved for just being Phoebe.
K9HAVEN Rescue requires a viable fenced yard, adoption application and contract, references and a home visit. Phoebe's adoption donation is $150 - to help cover vetting expenses. We do not generally adopt to homes with children under 6 years of age.
If you can't adopt Phoebe, but would like to support her in her stay in rescue, please go to PetFinder and click on her donation tag. Thank you.
