Description:
6-9-09 Little Bunny was seized in a neglect case and we have been holding her for a month awaiting the outcome until finally she has been legally surrendered to rescue! She is a very tiny girl at about 7 # and is listed as special needs because she is extremely fearful and has grade 4 luxating patellas that will need surgically repaired. I don't know her full history but she acts like a puppymill dog. Everything is scary to her and although she has bonded very strongly with me she is afraid of anyone or anything that is new or different. She will need a very patient and understanding home that is willing to help her thru her issues. I would consider her a flight risk so even tho a fenced yard is not required it would be to her benefit and no small children for the same reason. She has never bitten but probably would if she was backed into a corner or pushed too far too fast. Giving her a bath was a very interesting experience. Once she loves you and feels comfortable she is the sweetest most affectionate little girl and has quite a playful side. She is learning to walk on a leash and likes to be outside as long as we don't get too far from home and out of her comfort zone. She is crate trained but not house broken although she does well and should improve with the continued use of a crate but do keep in mind that these little ones can be hard to house train! She is vocal as are many small dogs so probably not a good apartment dog. She really likes cats and would enjoy the company of another friendly dog to show her the ropes. Please e-mail for an application if you can provide the right home for this tiny sweetheart. She has of course now been spayed, all vaccines, heartworm tested, frontlined, de-wormed and micro-chipped!
