**Update 07/03/2009**Topanga tested negative for heartworms today! She's healthy and ready to go to her new forever home! Be sure to apply today! **Update 04/29/2009**Topanga continues to improve! She's done so well, that we've moved Austin into her home to help bring her out of her shell. With the right dog, Topanga gushes into personality and approaches people! How wonderful for her! She's going in at the beginning of May for her next Heartworm treatment and things should move quickly from here. We're halfway through now :) Now that Topanga is coming out of her shell more, her foster mom is having more of an opportunity to teach her basic obedience :) We're very excited about her progress so far so keep checking back for updates! **Update 3/29/2009** Topanga is doing WONDERFULLY! She went through her first Heartworm Treatment on March 9 and her second, most aggressive one is scheduled for April 6th. Look at the pictures above and see just how much she's improved already! She's gone from looking like the world will literally cave at any moment to a dog that can accept and enjoy things in life. What a BEAUTIFUL girl! Keep checking back for updates! Date Available For Adoption: No sooner than July 2009 as Topanga still needs to complete her Heartworm Treatments. History: Topanga was possibly dumped on the shelter property where the employees found trouble catching her. A few weeks later, one of the shelter neighbors was able to befriend her and held her until the shelter had space available for her. Bio: Topanga is a very soft dog who's obviously had a less than stellar life. Was she abused? We'll never know. She lacks confidence and her foster family is working on bringing her out of her shell and getting her to open up to the world of excitement and joy that's out there for a dog. She seems to not know that she's even allowed to be a dog. She'll let you do anything to her. Right now, it seems like she expects the worst in life and is waiting for the world to fall in around her. It is our goal to show her the good that life can bring as she has a lot of potential :) Update 4/29/09: Topanga still has a ways to go but she has made such a vast improvement. She smiles now! Approximate Age: 3-5 years Approximate Weight: 35lbs Miscellaneous Information: We need your help! Heartworm treatments are very pricey (please call around and ask for your own verification!) and we need some financial assistance in getting her 100% healthy.
