Malia is such a loving, gentle sweet girl that many good people have gone to great lengths to ensure her safe placement into a great Forever Home. Originally from rural Kentucky, a very unfriendly place for the misunderstood pit bull breed, Malia was found as a stray with just one of her puppies as company. Sadly, somewhere along the way, Malia lost her puppy before she was able to be rescued and taken to the local shelter. Once there, she was adopted by a couple who wanted her only as a security system for their property, and shelter volunteers who went to Malia's new home to check up on her found her tied outside in horrible weather with none of the love or comfort that she so deserves. The volunteer offered the family money to give Leah back and they jumped at the offer. Once back at the pound, volunteers contacted us, pleading for one final chance for this wonderful girl. We of course could not turn her away, so loving Leah has become an honorary beagle and a member of our rescue, safe with us until the right home is found. Leah has been under the care and observation of shelter/rescue volunteers for months now and she loves everyone she meets. She is a very affectionate, happy and appreciative girl despite all she has endured, and she will serve any family that is lucky enough to have her very well. Leah has been spayed, is current on all vaccines, heart worm negative, parasite-free, crate trained, house trained, non-destructive in the home, laid back and very friendly with everyone she meets, including other dogs. If you would like more information or to meet this truly special girl, please call or email today for an application. Thank you for adopting and saving a life!
