Born approximately 9/25/05, Angel is our special needs girl as she was born deaf - no surprise since she is white with blue eyes. Angel is an awesome, 42 pound powerhouse. She had spent much of her young life outside until she was taken in by her foster family. Most people would have turned her away with the excuse of being too difficult to deal with since she hadn't learned any social skills and has lived in silent exile - but she has made her way to us, and we accepted the challenge.
Angel has been spayed, microchipped and tattooed, is up to date with all her vaccines. She is in a foster home with her foster mom and two daughters who took her in. Angel is a happy girl who has done well with her foster brother - another bully. Angel is not good with cats.
We have had Angel evaluated by one of Michigan's experts who specializes in training deaf dogs, and has extensive experience with deaf bullies, and we've determined that we will continue to work with Angel in order to try and and find her a new forever home. We have began instruction with her using hand signals, and it no doubt will be quite the endeavor. Angel must go to an experienced bully home, and hopefully (God willing) a home that has had experience with deaf dogs.
Right now it appears that Angel could have another neutered male dog in her household. We have our work cut out for us and so does Angel.
PLEASE - NO INQUIRIES ON ANGEL UNLESS YOU FIT THE CRITERIA LISTED ABOVE!
We want so very much to help her and feel that she deserves a real chance. Many ask why we would waste our time, energy and money when there are some many others that don't need all the extra work and effort , and would be so much more adoptable? My answer to them is simple - until you have walked a mile in someone else's shoes, walk lightly.
