Soldier today is a strong, beautiful and loyal friend. He has recovered entirely from his ordeal and is thriving in foster care!! He may permanently carry physical scars form his lousy start in life, but with his spirit that never shows! He is happy, hilarious, HIGHLY energetic and athletic. He can jump higher than my head straight up in the air. He loves to run and to be part of things. And this one I can even trust around the cats and the smaller dogs, though he's a bit overbearing sometimes. He's a wee bit protective of his food (it's a wonder he's not horrible!), so that would need to be addressed in a multiple dog house. This is a fantastic dog who needs an energetic person of his own to run around with. Missing this dog is a huge miss!!!!
Original story: Soldiers story is a sad and hard one. He was discovered living with a very abusive drunk who forced him to live on only corn cobs. He wouldnt let Soldier outside cause of the breed ban in his town. This dog lived in a filthy room with little fresh air, food or water and suffered routine beatings at the hand of the only owner he ever knew. Neighbors report this dog would be beat till he lay still on the ground. When one rescuer learned of the situation we swarmed in......12 pack in hand and left with legal ownership and one terrified hungry dog in tow!! We knew our very special foster parents, Tawny and James would open thier arms and her home to this dog and they did. He was terrified out of his mind and had learned in his life that if you take food from humans you will get kicked senseless. After many attempts with yummy cold cuts, the ice was broken and he warmed up beautifully. Today, you wouldnt know of this dogs battle. He is big, bulky, gorgeous and loving. Proud and strong, Soldier would will make a fantastic best friend to anyone who appreciates the breed.
