Susie is a golden retriever or lab mix who’s about 8 years old. She is sweet and gentle and wags her tail happily whenever anyone shows her the slightest bit of attention and affection. She enjoys being with people and with other dogs. Susie and her brother (or maybe her son) Barrett lived their whole lives with a man who loved them. But when he died, there was no one willing to take care of the dogs. They were taken to the shelter where they were separated. Susie was so overwhelmed and confused that she wouldn't even look at the camera when they took her picture. (And she still doesn’t like being photographed, she’s so much prettier in person!) Once she was taken to her kennel, she walked sadly back to the corner and sat by herself. But when volunteers came to take Susie out on a leash walk, she lit up with happiness. Don’t be fooled though, she’s no old lady. Susie and Barrett are full of life and even a little mischief, and they will keep you smiling all day. Susie and Barrett are extremely bonded and we will not separate them so they must be adopted together. Go to www.ThumpingTails.org for an online application or email ThumpingTails@aol.com with specific questions. Please note: we do not make appointments to meet our dogs until the online application has been completed so we can see if the dog is a good potential match. Thank you. We list dogs as being good with children, other dogs and cats unless we have specific knowledge to the contrary. ANY new dog will need to be closely supervised when being transitioned into a home with other dogs or cats or kids.
