Anyway you look at it, Deuce was dealt a pretty bad hand when his former owners decided to leave him at an area shelter. It seems this handsome 2-year old black Lab apparently mistook his family's ferret for some type of toy, and the whole affair resulted in Deuce being surrendered. Not to make light of the situation, but some retrievers have a healthy prey drive that makes chasing a ferret, rabbit, squirrel, or cat very instinctive. ADS and the shelter volunteers recognized Deuce's good qualities and wanted to make sure that he got the second chance he deserved. When it comes to playing fetch, you won't find a more willing subject than our boy Deuce. He has the energy of a young Lab and could use some training to improve his leash-walking skills. Our volunteer noted that he is very affectionate. In fact, each time she stopped petting him, he would put his paw on my arm for more. Someone has taken some time to work with Deuce because he knows how to 'shake' and 'sit.' Deuce is looking for an active family (without cats or ferrets) that needs a dog to have a full house. With extra special love, plenty of exercise and some stability in his life, we know he can live up to his potential. Do you think your family could be his ace in the hole?
