Adoption donation is $400. Ruby is a Japanese chin.5 yrs female, tiny - about 9 lbs, ok w/other dogs. scared.Red and white Cute! very tiny & Cute!Ruby is actually really good for a Puppy Mill girl! I put her in a baby sling and carry her around a lot of the time, even took her to the pet supply store today to socialize, where she liked the squeaky toys, but has no idea how to play with them. She also doesn't take treats from my hand, but I have a feeling she will get the hang of that soon. She likes to snuggle and slept on the bed all night. She even lets my son pet her. If I call her and put my hands out, she will come to me, and if she's feeling a little nervous she will actually jump into my outstretched arms! If she's calm she will wait for me to pick her up. Matt was right about her not liking the leash -- she just stands there frozen, and won't go potty. But when I let her run loose in the dog yard, she prances around with the others and is as happy and carefree as a puppy, and goes potty out there within a couple of minutes every time. She wasn't interested in dry food, so I gave her canned and she gobbled it right down. For breakfast, I mixed canned and dry with water and she ate fine. She does follow me around the house, just likes to see what's going on and doesn't want to be left out of things.Basically, I think she likes people and other dogs, but she is very afraid of something happening to her. When I was carrying her around in the sling she freaked when I turned on the kitchen faucet (running water is the worst, I'm thinking she will really hate the rain!) and she jumped when I closed a door too hard. She'll need a compassionate person who will understand her fears, and make her feel safe.A perfect home for her would be a reasonably quiet home, gentle people, a fenced yard and maybe a playmate or two, because she really likes the other dogs. She is a dear, she will find her people soon!
