Description:
Please contact Marty (lincolnigs@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Izzy arrived with the Nebraska IG Rescue because her previous owner is in the hospital for an extended time. He didn't have her long, and we feel she probably came from a puppy mill originally because she is a little shy and appears to have had a litter of puppies at some time. We were told this girl is about 3 years old, but we think she is older than this, probably over 7 or 8 years of age. Izzy has a great soft coat on her. She is very shiny and velvet soft. This little girl weighs a little less than 11 lbs. So far her potty habits are excellent. Although she doesn't like to go outside, when put out she will go so she can come back in to the heat. Izzy is a sweet little thing, just scared of her new surroundings and shy. But she is very food motivated, so that will be a good tool to use for training her. She is VERY accommodating. You can touch her anywhere. We bathed her, clipped nails, cleaned ears…she was good as can be. Not an aggressive bone in her body. She's alert, knows what toys are, she nibbles her teddy bear. She's happy to eat. She follows the other dog at the foster home around the house and the yard to explore. She doesn't appear to have experience with stairs so this will be something she will need to learn. She doesn't jump much either compared to most of the dogs we see who are eager to get your attention in any way possible. Izzy has been spayed, had her shots updated and her teeth cleaned already. Izzy is currently being fostered in Omaha, NE. Here is a recent update (Jan 09) from her foster home...She is still shy and doesn't approach people to cuddle. She approaches me happily (ears back, big smile, tail wagging) is when I am holding a guinea pig…which she promptly bathes. I get a kiss or two in the process. I hold her every day. She has improved in that she is losing that far away stare as I pet her. She will look at me, sniff around my shirt. And she does not shoot away like a bullet when I tell her we are done. She simply steps off and trots away.
