Description:
05/06/09- Second Chance League notes: Well, the heat wave broke so Don and Leslie and I were able to take 6 dogs from the shelter to run today on the 4 wheeler in an 8 dog team There are 4 black with some white.....all littermates and all males at the shelter. They have good bloodlines but I believe that very poor nutrition has played a bit of havoc on their bodies. They are all very sweet and social boys but very very thin. They have some enlarged wrists and splayed feet but these dogs ran great. The shelter says they are yearlings but I have information that says they aren''t even a year old yet. One of the boys is a bit shyer than the rest and he got a little confused and frightened in the team so we took him out at the beginning. I think he would go if given another chance in a smaller team to start with. That was the boy on house N. The other 3 are on houses I, M and O. They are hard to tell apart!! 2 of them are named--Caspian and Hooligan. The other 2 do not have names. The 3 that ran did a really good job considering their build and their emaciation. Under their nice longer black coats is nothing but bones. I was surprised when I put the first one on the truck. He weighed next to nothing. These should probably be 50 pound dogs. They would make a nice addition to a rec team and hopefully good nutrition would solve a lot of their problems. They are still very young and have great potential.
