5/29/06 UPDATE Huckleberry is one sweet gent. He tested positive for heartworm and has now completed his treatment. He also has been diagnosed with dry eye and is blind in one eye, so he requires daily medication for those conditions and will for life. Huckleberry is a favorite here at Libby's. His gentle disposition and willingness to please makes him a wonderful houseguest and companion. Given his blindness we do not recommend a home with small children but a home with older children might be appropriate. He is good with the other dogs in his foster home and appears to be ok with the cats, although they tend to stay away from the dogs for the most part. He loves to go for rides, walks and particularly likes a good romp in the fenced yard. Its been heartwarming to watch him come out of his shell and he now tries to play with the tennis ball but he's not quite sure what to do. I'm sure after watching his foster brother Herbie, who is a relentless ball retriever, Huckleberry will catch on. He is current on vaccinations, on heartworm preventative and is neutered.
2/28/06 - Huckleberry is a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. He's just arrived recently. More info coming soon.
