Thor is a young, mixed breed dog with a stunning and rich short coat of black and tan coloring. He is 2-3 years old, and weighs about 60 pounds. He came into rescue without a pedigree and certainly no birth certificate, so we have to guess that his heritage is either Rottweiler or, most likely, a Black and Tan Coonhound. We lean a little more toward the Black and Tan Coonhound as his primary breed because he lacks the full, bulky build of the Rottweiler, and because his personality is basically laid-back and "houndish". If you have ever had a hound, you know what we are talking about. When Thor came into rescue he lacked confidence, and was not very sure about the world around him. He was such a sweet dog, we knew we needed to spend a little extra time working with him to be sure he experienced all things possible to make him fully socialized. That time paid off in a big way! We walked him in the parks, took him to events, took him camping, took him for rides in the car - we took him everywhere. At his first adoption event we actually had to carry him into the store and place him in his crate. He was overwhelmed! Well, that was then, let us tell you about him now! You wouldn't believe he is the same dog! As you can see by his photos he proved to be an outdoorsy kinda boy. He especially enjoys going camping and going to the lake. He loved swimming so much, that his foster mom bought him a life jacket so he stays safe in the water during extended swims. We even sent him to to basic obedience clicker training where he passed with flying colors at the head of his class!! He is house trained and crate trained. He likes other dogs that are medium to large in size, male or female. However, he is not the best candidate for companionship with small dogs or cats. He loves to play with toys, and his favorite game is tug-a-war. His foster mom says that he is the biggest lover boy, and that he is the kinda boy that especially likes to be around his caregiver staying close beside! Thor has now completed his training and extra socialization activities planned just for him. Now what he really needs is a family to call his own! We invested the time in Thor - are you that special family or individual ready to adopt Thor and make him part of your life? He will make a very special lifetime companion, eager to please and join his adopter in all activities possible! If you are looking for an extra special young dog to take along with you in life's journey, then maybe you need to look no further! Thor may be your once-in-a-lifetime canine companion! Email his foster mom at email@example.com or call today to find out how to meet him in person! We can even send you an application by e-mail if you like! Thor is waiting to hear from you!
