Description:
his is Roux. I found him in October. He was running on Little Farms Ave in River Ridge. He had a collar on, but no tags and no microchip. I called local vets and shelters, and no one reported this little guy missing. I even posted adds on Craigslist with no responses. He must have been some ones pet. We had to come up with a name for him, and since our other pets have food names, and he is such a lovely brown color we named him Roux. He is very loving and gives hugs. His kisses are rare, but he loves to sit right next to you, and LOVES to cuddle in bed. The night that we found him it was pretty cold out, and he hopped right in the car. Soon we tried to place him with friends that were looking for dogs. He stayed with one of them, but he did not make a good fit. He is great with my other dogs, and with my cats. He would probably not be good for a first time dog owner, but loves to play with my other dogs. He has gotten out once, but when I went to get him with a leash he stayed put. He is some sort of hound mix, and appears to be young (1-2yr all of his teeth are sparkling white). He weighed 40lbs in October, but I have not recently weighed him. He is fed twice a day purina one. He also stays in a crate when I am gone, although he does not care for it. He would rather be laying in the bed or on the couch (which is why he is in the kennel when I am gone). He is a great dog, and while I wish that I could keep him I simply cannot. He knows his commands, although he has selective hearing, which is why I think he would be good with some one who has owned dogs before. I am fine fostering him until he finds a forever home.
The shelter is open to the public from 3 - 7 pm seven days a week. Dog adoption fees are $150 per dog and cats are $75 to $100 per cat. These fees help us with cost of spay / neuter, shots, microchips, HW treatment if necessary, other medical expenses and food.
