Description:
Racing Name: ICU Tom David Call Name: David Whelp Date: 5/23/01 David is a twin brother to Dalton, who was previously adopted through Bay Area Greyhound Adoptions. David raced in 26 races at Hollywood Greyhound Track, and was not quite as fast as his brother, Dalton. He reached grade 'B' status, which is still pretty good (Grade 'A' is the fastest). He raced for Suncoast Kennel, so he has always had the best of care. While out playing, David dislocated a bone in his hock. His leg was repaired with a plate and pins, and he was in a splint for 8 weeks. He recently had the splint and plate removed, and had recovered. but then re-broke his leg while out playing. It is a hairline fracture this time and should heal fine. He is currently wearing a splint and for the present, is limited to light walking and no running. Poor David just seems to have a black cloud following him. We will update David's information as he recovers. More on David--David is an average size boy at 74 lbs. He is currently living in a foster home with several other greyhounds, but has shown some interest in chasing the cat. For this reason, we recommend him for a home with no cats or small dogs. He does fine with larger dogs (25 lbs or more). David is quiet and easy-going, has wonderful house manners, and has a lot of personality. He walks easily on a leash, and loves to go for walks and rides in the car. He enjoys being with you and will follow you around the house. Because of his leg injury, we recommend David for a home without stairs (A couple of stairs is OK, just not a flight of stairs.) David's $200 adoption fee this month includes his neuter, teeth cleaning, all vaccines, microchip, leash and collar, an adoption guide, and of course, surgery to repair his leg. He is living in a foster home in the Oldsmar area. For more information or to meet David, please call 813/272-2332.
