Racing Name: A Bar Bonni Call Name: --Bonni-- Whelp Date: 8/14/03 As you can see from her photos, Bonni is a beautiful silver brindle girl with a blask mask. She is just three 1/2 years old, and looking for that special family to call her own. Bonni came to us from the Naples/Ft. Myers track where she raced 14 times before 'grading off' because she was too slow to compete with other greyhounds. Bonni is a very small greyhound, weighing in at just 55 lbs. , so it was diffucult for her to complete with the larger male greyhounds on the track, who can be 90 lbs. or more. Bonni is very people-oriented. She likes to constantly be with you and is very affectionate. She especially loves to ride in the car and greyhound kennel truck. The kennel truck is her favorite, and if you leave a kennel door open, she will jump right in. She also loves toys. Her favorite is a yellow teddy bear which she sleeps with and tosses around. Bonni has a lot of chase instinct, and will chase (and possibly catch) any small creature that moves, including squirrels, rabbits, small dogs and cats. She loves to play and is always trying to get the other greyhounds to run and play with her. For such a little thing, she has quite a lot of spirit. We recommend her for families with no small children --she may try to chase them--and no small dogs, cats, or small animals. She would be fine with older children (over 10) and teenagers. She would do fine as an only pet or with a laid-back male dog. Because she enjoys running in the yard, we recommend her for a home with a fenced yard. Bonni was chosen for the Second Chance at Life Greyhound Prison Program (SCAL). She was trained at the Plainfield, Indiana correctional facility by the inmate handlers to acclimate from track life to life in a home. Bonni is proficient in the following commands: heel, sit, down, stay, come on recall, can go up and down stairs with ease, and is house trained. We feel that when you adopt a SCAL trained greyhound, you are getting the Best of the Best in retired racing greyhounds. For more information on this uinque and successful program, please click on our website under 'Second Chance at Life'. With her sweet and fun personality, Bonnie would be a great addition for the right family. Her $300 adoption fee includes her SCAL training, transportation to and from her taining facility in Indiana, spay, teeth cleaning, all vaccines, microchip, leash and collar, travel bag with grooming kit, SCAL graduation jacket, an adoption guide, and a journal prepared by her inmate handler.
