Description:
8 years old. 70 lbs.Osiris - has been with a family for over 5 years but due to economic difficulties, the family has asked Rescued Racers to take both Pistol and Osiris into our program. The original adoption group is no longer in business.
Osiris is a very sweet boy. He loves to go for walks, likes to chew on chewies, and mostly loves to lounge around on the couch and watch TV (next to his brother Pistol). He loves ear scritches and makes cute, funny noises when he's happy. He is cat-safe.
RESCUED RACERS has always had a heart for Seniors/Special Needs greyhounds. As a result of our commitment to finding Seniors their Forever Homes we have quite a few Senior hounds in foster care. The 'word is out on the street' that we will take Seniors in our program, no questions asked. This is wonderful for the Seniors because normally they are put-down after they are no longer able to have pups or be a stud dog.
In order to help our Seniors find their Forever Homes, we have initiated a new program, Senior Guardian Angels. A Guardian Angel is simply that, you help and become a sponsor for one Senior hound. Whatever donations we receive in a Senior's name will go to the adoption fee for that hound. When the Senior is adopted, the new family will receive a card listing the Guardian Angels of their special hound.
In addition, every Senior hound will have a dowry! Several generous adopters (most have Seniors in their homes) have decided each Senior will bring to their new Forever Home the following:
A special Senior adoption fee (donated by Guardian Angels and RESCUED RACERS) A new winter coat (donated by Meridith Hocking and Christine Jelcic) A new collar (donated by Nancy B's Collars; visit her website at : http://community.webshots.com/user/nancybnj)- Heartgard heartworm preventative (donated by Jan Healey) First office visit fee waived by Dr. Doug Pernikoff- A fleece blanket (donated by Jan Healey and Kelly McKiney)- Plus other assorted items
Now you ask, 'how old is a Senior greyhound and why would I want a Senior?' Any of our greyhounds that are 8 years old and up are considered a Senior. As anyone that has a Senior will tell you, they are the easiest and most laid-back of ALL greyhounds. They immediately appreciate their home, soft bed, couch, your love and affection. Many do not need to be kenneled, they don't chew like the younger crowd, they have manners, and many never have an accident in the house. They only require love, lots of pets and hugs and just somewhere warm and soft to lie.
Please check our website at www.rescuedracers.com and take a look at our Seniors. If you would like to adopt one of our Senior hounds or would like to be a Guardian Angel, please contact Leann at 314-423-4126 or gdoglady@yahoo.com. Once you have a Senior in your life you will always have a Senior in your life!
Remember, SENIORS RULE!!!!
