Arthur is a very large (and still growing), 125 lb, young Pyr boy found on busy 4 lane highway after being hit by car. 14-18 months. Owners never located, treated injuries were not life threatening & he has recovered well. Arthur is now fully vetted - neutered, house trained, UTD on all vacs including rabies/certificate, HW neg & on monthly preventative, a dream on a leash, and loves to go. Hops in & out of vehicle willingly, is a gentleman at the vet & in public. Arthur is wonderful in mixed group of large & small dogs & cats in large open area, even with community food pans around. So far, he is a big love sponge, non alpha, and obedient. We ask that Arthur be placed in experienced Pyrenees home with a companion dog or someone retired or stay at home. He's a pleasure to have around, a quiet, loving, solid, dependable presense that just wants to be by your side. He is so deserving of a family that will appreciate him. About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes to learn how they will interact with your family. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks or more, spayed or neutered and fully vetted before placement. NGPR will take back any dog who does not succeed in its new home. Many NGPR volunteers are members of the AKC breed club, adhere to their rescue guidelines for purebred Pyrs and apply these standards to the adoption of Pyr mixes as well.
