Leyla was born on December 9th. She has only been left alone about 3 times and is doing well on her crate training. She still whines a little when we put her in but then settles down quickly, sleeps in it almost every night (sometimes we cheat and let her sleep in the bed) She loves being rubbed on her belly and loves to nuzzle up in bed. She had learned several tricks - she knows how to sit, stay, lay down, come, heel and how to get on and off furniture. She loves to learn new tricks and is easy to train. We are working on roll over...but it's a little hard with her long legs. She is not great with cats, she just doesn't understand them and chases them and barks at them. I don't know if she will grow out of this or not. Her teeth are coming but she has not been destructive - we've just kept her surrounded with lots of good bones and soft toys. She LOVES ice cubes and makes a mess when she's eating them. To see pics of more of our great rescue dogs, click here.

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes to learn how they will interact with your family. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks or more, spayed or neutered and fully vetted before placement. NGPR will take back any dog who does not succeed in its new home. Many NGPR volunteers are members of the AKC breed club, adhere to their rescue guidelines for purebred Pyrs and apply these standards to the adoption of Pyr mixes as well. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out the application form below.
