Schatzie is a 10 months old Blue Merle female Great Dane with cropped ears. She was turned to the shelter because she was 'too playful'.
After evaluating Schatzie's behavior, we came to the conclusion that she's been severely abused. She is head shy, timid of strangers and fearful of men. The good thing is that when Schatzie is with people she knows and trusts, she is very sweet, loving and playful. She is good with other dogs and she loves cats.
It is unfortunate that Schatzie had suffered such emotional trauma to make her so fearful, but fortunately, she is young and very smart and it will not take her long to re-adjust and regain trust in people.
Schatzie will need to go to someone who will work with her and socialize her. She needs to learn that not all people are bad and she is not going to be hurt again.
