Jake was brought to us from Bridge City TX. He was hit by a truck and left for dead. Luckily a good Samaritan picked him up and took him to her vet. After having x-rays done, it was determined that Jake has a shattered pelvis and he will need to have surgery to reconstruct his hip and leg. Jake rescuer sent emails out to try and find a rescue organization to take Jake, but because the severe condition and knowing that surgery will be very expensive, nobody came forward to take Jake, that is until PAWS of Austin got the plea for help. Jake was then transported to the rescue in Austin. Thanks to many wonderful people who sent us donations, we were able to collect enough $$ to pay for Jake's surgery. Unfortunately, due to nerve damage, we were not able to save Jake's leg. But not to worry, Jake is getting around just fine with three legs. Update: Jake is now in a loving home, enjoying his new life, all thanks to many caring people who made it possible.
Many of the dogs taken into our rescue have been neglected and are in very poor health and usually in need of extensive medical care. Many of them are severely under weight and are Heartworm positive, a condition which will be fatal if not treated.
