Description:
This Dane was found in Houston, wandering down the street in the middle of the night with a plastic bag over her head, tied with rubber bands. You may ask yourself, who can do such a thing? The only answer would be, someone who is demented, malicious and cruel beyond any reason. Luckily for the dog, the person who found her felt so bad, she took her into her home. She contacted the local Great Dane rescue in Houston, but for some reason, the Great Dane rescue in Houston did not take the dog. In desperation, this good Samaritan contacted us. Of course, we are going to help this poor dog. After being in the foster home for a few days, Cinder (new name) has come out of her shell. She has a good appetite and she is being very sweet and loving. She was taken to the vet and he estimated her to be about 1 1/2 years old. Unfortunately, being very underweight wasn't her only problem. She was also tested positive for Heartworms. But all that will be taken care of. Cinder is a sweetheart. She appreciates all the attention (and food) she is getting. She is great with the kids and she gets along with other dogs, as well as cats. She is house broken and she likes to play with squeaky toys and fetch. She knows 'sit', 'heel' and 'come'. Because this dog is so underweight, she cannot be spayed yet. We will wait until she puts some weight on, which shouldn't take too long. After she is spayed, she will be treated for HW. At this point we are seeking a foster home for Cinder. Someone who could keep her while she is getting the care she needs. If you are willing to offer Cinder a temporary home, please fill out our foster application. Even better, if you'd like to give Cinder a forever home, fill out the adoption application. Both apps can be filled out on line by going to our website: www.pawsofaustin.org In addition for a home for Cinder, we are also seeking donation to help with the vet care she needs: vaccinations, spay surgery and expensive HW treatment. Donations will be greatly appreciated! Many of the dogs taken into our rescue have been neglected and are in very poor health and usually in need of extensive medical care. Many of them are severely under weight and are Heartworm positive, a condition which will be fatal if not treated.
