For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at www.rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications can be found on the home page. Male, 1.5 years, Merle, Natural Ears Patches is a spunky 1.5-year-old male blue merle Dane with natural ears. He was originally surrendered to Rescue by previous owners that no longer wanted to care for him; and subsequently came back to Rescue after being adopted due to medical issues. (The vet believes that Patches has had some type of trauma to his shoulder area. Patches will have this condition, which comes and goes, for the rest of his life, and he needs a family with the patience to work with him and the willingness to provide ongoing medical treatment.) Patches spent most of his young life in a pen and has not been well socialized or trained; however, despite his unfortunate past, Patches is proving to be a very quick learner! According to his foster mom, “Patches is a Velcro dog. He needs a lot of loving attention from his humans as he has had a rough start with just wanting to be a puppy and getting into things his owners were not happy about (he wanted to chase the chickens).” She adds that he loves to cuddle and lean, and he and will try to get on your lap. Patches is full of energy and needs to be played with and exercised on a daily basis. He loves going on runs, for rides in the truck and playing tug-o-war. Patches is very friendly with dogs and cats – and he adores children – but he can’t wait for his foster mom to get home. She adds, “Patches has not had the best start, but he is an unconditional lover and is very faithful. He needs a lot of love and he needs to gain weight, but he will make a great addition to any family.” This sweet boy will thrive under the care of someone who will continue to work with him and continue to give him the love he so deserves.
