For more information about this Dane, please visit our website at www.rmgreatdane.org. Adoption Applications can be found on the home page. Male, 4 years, Harlequin, Cropped Merlin is a smart 4-year-old male harlequin Dane with cropped ears. He came to Rescue after being found as a stray and placed in a shelter in Arkansas for three months. Because he has been extremely mistreated in his past, Merlin is very shy, timid and frightened, and it takes awhile to warm up to new people. According to his foster mom, Merlin has been doing very well and becoming increasingly socialized. He is house and crate trained, learning his basic commands and walks well on a leash. He is a fast learner once you’ve gained his trust, and he eventually grows to enjoy a lot of loving attention from his humans. His foster mom says, “Merlin is so sweet and loving, he needs someone who will just love him and give him attention. He is very friendly toward all other dogs he has come into contact with and, in fact, having another dog around him helps him relax.” A true ‘ladies’ man,’ Merlin is generally more timid around men and generally seems to prefer women. His foster mom adds, “Merlin really enjoys being outside and loves to sit majestically and watch his surroundings. He absolutely loves children. There is no doubt in my mind he will be a great pet and superior companion for someone who will take the time and effort to be his human. He will be a great dog and friend to a very lucky person. Merlin has tested heartworm positive and will be receiving treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery.
