Arrival story: Roxy was pulled from an overcrowded rural shelter.
Approximate age / weight: 1-2 years / 96 lbs.
Personality: Roxy is a very friendly and playful girl who loves affection. She'll play fetch and even return toys back to you! Roxy is a confident girl who enjoys attention. She seems to know sit and is housebroken. Roxy is most adorable when she “hugs” you - when you are sitting, she gently places her paws on your shoulders and puts her head next to yours.
Roxy wags her tail a lot - if you’ve ever had a Great Dane, then you know about that tail, so move those knick-knacks off the coffee tables!
Roxy seems fine with the resident, senior Great Dane in the household, but she gets too stimulated around the younger dogs when they are romping around, so she is not allowed out of her crate when they are in the room. Roxy is good in her crate, though. As for cats, at first Roxy got very excited and barked when she saw them, but now she is used to them.
Forever home: Roxy will do best in a home with no young children or other dogs, although we will consider applicants with a larger, calm, senior dog. Roxy will likely do fine with cats as long as they are dog savvy and Roxy is given time to get used to them. She needs a physically-fenced yard and an adopter willing to give her the training and structure she needs. Don’t be fooled by her size, Roxy is still a puppy and has to mature! She would love a family with Great Dane experience, but at the very least needs a home with a lot of dog experience, preferably larger breeds.
