care. His sweet and loving personality is coming out. He loves to be petted, brushed, walked. He no longer hides behind/under the kitchen table, except when he sees the ear cleaning bottle. He is eating dog food (a mix of mostly dry with some moist). He discovered the dog toy basket and has been playing with soft toys as well as sterilized bones and nylabones. He follows me around the house and settles wherever I settle, though he loves the dog bed in front of the patio door windows. Leo has made some new friends (2 humans, 1 golden and a black lab) that he met on his daily walks. When he sees his friends, he barks. It seems to be his way of greeting. When he is really excited, like while I prepare his meals, he makes this throaty sound that almost sounds like a growl, but is more a moan of happiness. Leo and Rufus, my pomeranian, are great friends. They lie on the floor, head to head or tail to tail, sleeping together. This afternoon, Leo went with me to a meet and greet at Boston Store, where he won over many hearts. He got lots of loving pets and belly rubs. He is resting up right now. Leo has been to the vet several times. He has had bad infections, bacterial and yeast in both ears. He has been taking medicine ever since he arrived here. I think the infections are finally resolving -- his ears don't smell any more and he isn't scratching them as much either. The vet wants Leo to lose quite a big of weight, and he has already dropped 7 pounds. He loves to go on walks.
