Description:
Riley first came to us from the South Los Angeles shelter when he was just about 5 months old. He soon proved himself to be a big favorite, with his intelligence, good nature and cute little stubby tail, which was constantly wagging. Riley was adopted to a wonderful woman as her second dog and she adores him. However, having two dogs while she is setting up a new business is too much for her. So she has asked for help in finding him a new home, where he can get all the love and attention that he so deserves. Riley is now approximately 14 months old and weighs almost 70lbs. He has grown into a very handsome boy, who is tall, slender and long legged with a wavy white coat. The photographs don't do him justice as he is so much more gorgeous in person. He loves other dogs, of all sizes, and cats and is wonderful with kids, who he will frequently seek out at the park to play with. However, as he is partially a herding breed, we would suggest a home with children that are older than 8 or ones that don't mind being herded ! He has been extremely well socialized and has received extensive obedience training. He now knows many commands including all of the basics (sit, stay, come down, wait) as well as 'place' when you want him to go to a designated spot, 'leave it' when he picks up something undesirable, 'touch' to bring him to your hand for further instructions and 'find it' when you toss a treat or a toy. He loves to hike on or off leash and he is also a great jogger, although he does like to carry his own leash in his mouth! Riley sleeps on the bed at night and he loves to cuddle. He has now been to two of our adoption events and won the award each week for best behaved as nothing seems to faze him. He is an all around sweetheart of a boy. We would love for Riley to find a home with an active person, or another dog to play with or even maybe a ranch where he can happily run around chasing butterflies and birds to his heart's content.
