Sammy is about 15 months old, we believe. She lived for the past year on a chain, so she is learning all about what it's like to be a house dog. She's doing exceptionally well, considering she's likely never been inside before.
She fusses just a little bit when she is first put in her crate at night or when she must be left alone for a short period of time, but then settles down and is content to take a nap.
She's also doing very well at housebreaking. She does not yet know how to let us know when she needs to go out, but she is given several opportunities to do her business in the yard each day and she always goes.
She is a little submissive with new people, and we believe she may have been hit or kicked at in her previous home because she will shy away if we move too quickly around her. She comes right back to us, though, so with time, she can learn to fully trust people again.
She's absolutely the sweetest little dog you could ever meet. She LOVES attention and thrives on praise. She's learning to sit and come on command, though she never strays far from us when we are out in the yard with her.
She likes to play with other dogs, but is not as good with smaller dogs as she is with dogs closer to her size. Cats and very small dogs are a no-no. She is entirely too prey-oriented when it comes to animals that size.
Sammy needs a foster home to stay at until she is adopted, where she can spend more of her time indoors and have a little more one-on-one attention. Right now, she only gets to come inside for short periods because we have indoor cats. If you would like to foster Sammy, please contact us.
Sammy's adoption fee is $200.
