***Courtesy Posting*** Meet Socks!!! A nice lady took in a stray that someone had left tied up in the backyard of a foreclosed home in Birmingham, AL. She was so emaciated that we didn't know she was pregnant until the vet confirmed it. Anyway, we are left with four very healthy, very happy boys. As much as it pains me to think of giving these angels up, I must find good homes for them. If you are interested in adopting one, here is the criteria: *They must be kept in a fenced yard--not a pen--that is safe enough to where they cannot get out, or indoors, or both--never on a chain. *You must sign a contract stating that should something arise where you can no longer keep the dog, you must surrender it to me, not the pound or another individual. *You must have the dog neutered (Red Bank Animal Hospital is the best choice, because (A) they are the best and (B) they have the pup's records and history from birth); I will assist with cost of neutering. *I would like to receive updates (i.e. emails, phone calls, whatever) to know that they are okay. This all sounds terribly picky, but I have fought very long and very hard to keep these four alive. We began with 12 puppies from c-section, but because their mother (stray) had the c-section, she was confused and wouldn't nurse. We had to bottle feed the pups. Because they didn't receive antibodies from her, they developed sepsis, and we lost eight of them, even after fighting hard to keep them all alive, once we realized what was happening. These guys have not only been bottle-fed, but they were also given antibiotic injections every 8 hours, fluids SQ as needed, and basically every other function a mother would do. They are my babies. And, they will only go to homes where they will be loved and well cared for. :) Please let me know if you are interested in adopting one; they are half German Shepherd (mom is full-blooded) and we think Lab? Gorgeous dogs--big dogs!. There is an adoption fee of $75 LOCAL ADOPTIONS ONLY FOR THE SHEPHERD PUPS!!!! (In or near Chattanooga, TN) Just let me know the type of home you can provide and if it all sounds good to me, I will forward your emails to the lady that has the pups.
