We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. Apple recently went through a major change in life. You see, she was raised with a husky as her sibling. The husky died and her family decided that they didn't need her either so they dumped her in a rural shelter where she is now confined to living an outdoor life with only a doghouse to live in and protect her from the elements. She's having trouble adjusting to life with other dogs so she would need some extra help if she were to live with another dog. At the present time, she'd probably be best as an only pet. Since she did live with another dog before, maybe she could learn to live with another again. We don't know how she is with kids or cats. Please consider adopting Apple. Breed Estimate: shepherd mix Gender: female Approximate weight: 60 pounds Approximate age: 2 years Location: outdoor rural shelter but can be brought to the DC area for an approved adopter or foster The adoption fee for this dog is $275, which covers the cost of routine vet care, as well as spay/neuter surgery.
