Hello, I'm Raleigh, and I am so thankful to be here! My life has not been very easy or pleasant. See, I was dumped at the Greenville County Humane Society with a horrible case of mange and having just had puppies. The floor was so cold and it was so loud there, but the worst part was that the dogs around me kept being led away to be 'put to sleep.' I was so scared, I knew no one would want me, since I looked so terrible. I had almost given up hope BUT a nice lady came and rescued me and took me to sunny Charleston!
There she started the process of getting me over the mange (and I'm pleased to say I now have a long beautiful coat). But, my difficulties were not over and the vet told her more bad news: I had heartworms. They suggested instead of the normal harsh treatment that I just receive the regular monthly heartworm pill to kill off my heartworms. I've been on that (like all dogs should be!), and by next April I should definitely be heartworm-free (oh, don't worry, it was a very low positive and it doesn't bother me in the slightest).
Now, a girl tries to keep my hopes up, but I've been here a few months now and I still haven't found that perfect family. It doesn't make any sense: I'm very smart, housetrained, cratetrained, and leashtrained. I'm good with kids and other dogs (no cats or small furry critters for me please). I'm so good, my foster mom gives me free reign of the house during the day! I just can't figure out where my perfect family is...
