*****THIS IS A COURTESY POST. PLEASE CONTACT BETH MARYAN AT firstname.lastname@example.org **********************Meet our stunning Alex. Her unique and striking markings resemble a beautiful painting. And, Alex is just as beautiful on the inside. She has become a favorite in our organization. Everyone is taken by her incredible temperament and her most gentle demeanor. A very sweet lady and her young daugher were driving down the road in Oklahoma and spotted Alex our running alone, lost and very scared. They stopped the car and asked Alex if she needed some help. Alex responded by standing up and putting her front paws around her and buried her little head in her stomach. Alex then hopped in the car. No doubt, she had been on her own for a very long time. Best guess she was used for hunting and got lost or was abandoned. This family was unable to keep Alex so they took her to the shelter in hopes she would be adopted. Surprisingly, Alex was deemed unadoptable as she was quite stressed and spinning in her cage. So, the family contacted us hoping we could help. From her photos, she appeared to be an English Springer Spaniel, so arrangements were made to pull her and transport her to Dallas. When she arrived, it was clear she was not a Springer but a gorgeous English Setter who, too, deserved a loving forever home. So, here she is! Alex was severely emaciated like we have never seen. Yet, her beautifully affectionate personality shone through. Our transporters, volunteers and vet staff were all taken with her. Since, she has put on weight and has just finished her heartworm treatment. My goodness, she looks like a different girl! Amazing what good vet care, a healthy diet, and lots of TLC can do. Her coat is growing longer every day and that short dry brittle hair is now soft, shiney and healthy. Alex is finally ready for adoption. She would be amazing with children, and in fact, was named after the little girl that found her and that loved her . She does fine with other dogs as well. Like any Setter she would love a home with a large yard and lots of good exercise. She is unknown with cats. Please consider adding our very special Setter to your family. Thanks!
