Peaches is a 7 1/2 year-old, spayed, female Dalmatian who was given up by her former owner as an act of kindness. He did not have time to spend with her, and she was living a solitary life in the basement, all alone three to five days and nights a week, enjoying the company of her human only on the weekends when he was home from his business travels. She is now settling into a foster home which includes two male Dalmatians, a cat, and a cockatoo. As of right now, it appears that she would do well in a quiet, adult household. You can see in all her pictures (by how tightly tucked she keeps her tail) that she is shy and scared. Peaches has already made friends with the dogs in her new home, she is doing OK with the cat, and she is slowly warming up to her foster dad. We hope that soon we can show you pictures of a happy, confident dog that no longer feels afraid and is ready for a forever home. She enjoys the long, slow walks that are helping to rebuild her muscle strength and to take off some of the extra pounds she still carries from years of eating high-calorie puppy food. The incorrect diet may be the reason that she faces possible renal failure. Her blood values are improving on a presciption K/D diet, so we hope we can give her many more years in a permanent, loving home. Peaches is up to date on all vaccines and we have all of her vet records. We will update this page with new pictures and will let you know how she is progressing in her new environment.4/20/09
