Name: HoneyAge: 7 monthsColor: Black & Tan PiebaldCoat: SmoothSex: Female/SpayedSize: Tweenie - 14 lbs.
Honey was turned in at the shelter by her owners, who said they could no longer take care of her because they were moving. It's been happening a lot lately. We jumped at the chance to find Honey a new home of her own.
Honey is a puppy. She does silly puppy things, like dig holes in the dirt when left too long unsupervised in the back yard, play and run around the house with her foster sister, and then collapse in a heap to take a long puppy nap.
She loves to cuddle in any available lap and turns over on her back for belly rubs at every opportunity. She sleeps in her crate at night, but would really love to be under the covers in the big bed.
A very well socialized little girl, Honey is enjoying the company of her foster sister and the other doxies that visit her foster home. She'd be lonely and would act out if she were an only dog, so we will only place her in a home with another playful dog.
Crate trained and doing extremely well in her house training, Honey is learning commands like 'sit,' 'stay' and 'go pee-pee/doo-doo.'
Applicants need the following qualifications:
Someone at home most of the day, stay-at-home moms and folks who work from home would be ideal.
Previous dachshund experience is a plus but not essential.
Another dachshund for play and companionship.
A very secure INDOOR place for Honey to be when no one is at home.
Applicants must be between 25 and 65 years of age.
No infants or toddlers, please, but we will consider families with children over five years old.
She likes gentle children over 5 years old, and enjoys playing with toys. We don't know how she would behave around cats. Spayed, current on vaccines and microchipped, Honey is ready for her new home.

ADOPTING A DACHSHUNDBecause we love our dachshunds and are committed to finding safe, loving, forever homes for them, we screen our applicants thoroughly before approving an adoption. In order to determine which dachshund is most compatible for your lifestyle, our adoption procedures are as follows:
Fill out an application, which has been designed to determine which of our rescue dachshunds would best suit your needs and experience.
Complete a home check, a time when one of our representatives can visit your home and meet you, the other residents of your home and any other pets that might live with you.
Sign an adoption contract promising to love and care for the doxie for the rest of his or her life, or return the doxie to rescue.
In order to be considered as an adopter, you must be 21 years of age or older, have identification showing your present address and, if you rent your home, have the prior knowledge and consent of your landlord, whose contact information you will be asked to provide. You must also be willing and able to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a dachshund. We do not adopt to people who have not spayed or neutered their pets, unless there is a medical need for the animal to remain intact.
We do require an adoption fee, which helps us cover the boarding, vetting, alteration and vaccination of your new pet. Adoption fees also offset the medical needs of the other doxies in rescue, especially vetting for the seniors. Our adoption fees vary, depending upon the age, health and medical needs of each dachshund.
