Description:
This doxie is being fostered in Central CaliforniaName: JaneAge: 1 yearColor: Black & Tan Double DappleCoat: LonghairSex: Female/SpayedSize: Standard -20 lbs. If dogs could talk, Jane would have quite a story to tell. Found wandering in a rural area, Jane was most likely driven out to the country and dumped out of the car, in the hope that someone local would take her in. The people who found Jane kept her for about two months while they tried in vain to find her real owners. No one answered their ads in the newspapers or responded to the many flyers they posted around town. After two months, they just couldn't afford to keep her any longer, so they turned her in to the Clovis Animal Shelter in Central California, who contacted rescue about this beautiful girl. A sweet, puppy-like girl, Jane is simply gorgeous, with soft fur and long fuzzy ears. Although she is a double-dapple, she doesn't seem to have any of the physical problems we often see in dogs with the 'fatal gene.' She loves to follow her foster mom's young daughter around, even to the barn! We'd love to match Jane with a family with children over eight years old. Jane spends her outdoor time with five Chihuahuas and interacts well with them. We think she'd like a home with another dog around her age. Jane loves to go for walks, but needs to learn not to pull so much. She is learning to be crate trained, and she is doing quite well with housetraining. She presently sleeps in her crate at night, but would really love to sleep in the big bed with her favorite person. Previous experience with a longhaired dachshund is not essential, but she will require regular brushing and periodic professional grooming to look her absolute best.
