Mitchell is a handsome blond dog that was rescued from a shelter in Tennessee. He is thought to be a collie or maybe shepherd mix with some lab - a DNA test would tell for sure, otherwise there''s no way to really know. What we do know for sure is that Mitchell is a lot of dog looking for someone to provide him with structure and guidance. Mitchell craves attention, and loves to be scratched and rubbed on his neck and behind the ears. He is a sweet guy when you''re with him. When you''re not, he is unfortunately under the impression that barking and jumping is the proper way to ask for food and attention. We''ve been working on discouraging this, but his new family will need to follow through with him and encourage him to greet and ask for things with four on the floor. He is not the dog for a first time owner, as he can be demanding at times and needs someone who knows how to encourage proper behavior. Mitch still acts much like a puppy at 3 years old. He is housetrained (or nearly there), but seems not to know anything else. He NEEDS to attend obedience classes with his new home. He has no clue what he is supposed to be doing. When on a leash, Mitchell is a wild jumping bean - he gets so excited he doesn''t know what to do with himself. Mitchell does very well with other dogs, and has a lot of energy. Another fun dog in the house would be a great playful outlet for him, or play groups or doggy daycare. Cats are an unknown, but we can cat-test him for interested parties (I would think no runner cats though, they would just be too tempting). When Mitch is excited, he will leap at you and hits hard, so no young kids because they would be knocked all over the place. 10+ would be good with him. Please note, dogs transported from out of state have a $100 transport charge added to the regular adoption fee.
