Poor Jax, he's working on growing out a very badly matted coat! Jax came to us from the local animal control facility, and he had run out of time. No one wanted to adopt him because of his coat, but we could see that there was a beautiful dog under all that fur. When it grows out, his coat will be a silky, glossy black with a slight wave. He'll need regular grooming to stay his handsome best. Jax is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, heartworm negative and on prevention, and microchipped. He is working on crate training, but prefers to be near his people. He is a total lap dog, and adores curling up for a cuddle more than anything else. Jax would love to be the only dog in a family; he just loves all the attention! He does accept correction well, and straightens up right away with a word. Jax walks fairly well on a leash and would be a great dog for a family with older children since he sometimes feels a little unsure around the unpredictable activities of small children. At this point, we are working on clearing up two big hot spots, one on each cheek, and they are responding beautifully to the medicine the vet gave us for him. You can see this in one of his pictures. We hesitated to put him on Petfinders until his little cheeks were completely cleared up, but Jax is soooo ready for his forever home, and has so much love to give that we decided to give adopters a chance to consider him. Jax is ready to give his heart to a family, and is a strikingly handsome dog anyone would be proud of. Do you think Jax has a place with you?
